York City Tour
he tour will begin at the
Waldorf=Astoria Hotel where you will meet your guide, a true New Yorker,
and begin your tour of the city. You will learn about the history of the
hotel and New York City. During the tour you will learn about, visit or
view Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, Riverside Drive, Grant's Tomb,
Riverside Church, Cathedral of St. John the Divine, Fifth Avenue, Museum
Mile, the fashionable Upper East Side, Times Square, Theater District,
Broadway, SoHo, Battery Park, World Trade Center, Wall Street, South Street
Seaport, Chinatown, Little Italy, The Bowery, Empire State Building and
the United Nations. The tour will break for lunch at the historic South
Street Seaport where shopping and lunch options are plentiful. Depending
on time, we will stop at other sites along the way. Note: This tour will
be repeated on Monday for accompanying persons.

Beat Goes On...
New York City is host to
some of the best music and clubs in the world. Whether Jazz, Rhythm &
Blues or World Beat, the choices are infinite and the artists who perform

(at this time, we cannot predict what clubs will be visited or artists
performing but assure you that both the clubs and artists we will enjoy
will not disappoint). A specialized Music Aficionado Guide, who is extremely
knowledgeable about Jazz and Blues, will give insight into the New York
music scene as well as lead you on this musical journey. You will enjoy
live music and a drink at each club.

Sunday, October 21, 2001:
Statue
of Liberty & Ellis Island
Visit two worldwide attractions!
You will travel to the Statue of Liberty by ferry. "The Lady", a gift from
the people of France, represents freedom and independence, and the inscription
"Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe
free" is forever inspirational. You will have time to explore Liberty Island
and your guide will give you pointers. Then the group will visit Ellis
Island, by ferry, as the immigrants did. The old immigration station located
in New York Bay served the immigrants as their hopeful gateway to the "Promised
Land" - the United States. The main building is now called The Ellis Island
Immigration Museum and houses immigrants' artifacts, oral history and media
presentations. Your guide will demonstrate the processing path which the
immigrants themselves followed. Upon return to the mainland, we will finish
up the tour with lunch in one of the city's most colorful areas, Little
Italy, where the immigrants settled at the turn of the century.

Hudson
River Adventure
(Special Outing for Delegates
and Companions)
What could be more spectacular
than a cruise up the Hudson River at the height of this most glorious fall-foliage
season? Aboard the private yacht, Royal Princess, we will travel past the
length of Manhattan from the Statue of Liberty to the George Washington
Bridge, through the imposing cliffs of the Palisades to the beautiful Tappan
Zee. The boat will dock about noon at the Tarrytown Marina in the romantic
Sleepy Hollow countryside of the Hudson Valley. From there, by motor
coach, we will go to the historic restaurant/inn, Beau-Rivage, for cocktails
and a sumptuous luncheon with spectacular views, overlooking the river
and colorful rolling hills of the beautiful Hudson Valley. You will
then have the option of touring one of three historic venues: the
charming 1855 country estate of the writer, Washington Irving (The Legend
of Sleepy Hollow, Rip Van Winkle); the 1838 Gothic Revival mansion, Lyndhurst
("castle"), with its dramatic landscaped park on the banks of the Hudson
River; or the meticulously restored 18th century Van Cortland Manor, home
to the Van Cortland family for more than 260 years, where it is said that
Benjamin Franklin, Lafayette and John Jay have visited or stayed. At approximately
3:30 p.m., we will return to New York by motor coach, touring across the
Bear Mountain Bridge, through Bear Mountain State Park in all its fall
splendor and back to Manhattan via the Garden State Parkway and George
Washington Bridge.

The
Artist's Lifestyle: Greenwich Village & Soho
You will be introduced to
Greenwich Village and SoHo in a way that few New Yorkers know. You will
learn about the history, events, and activities of the famous people who
have lived, visited and worked in these neighborhoods. Today, such celebrities
as Robert deNiro, Richard Gere, and Susan Sarandon reside here. SoHo is
an artists' colony in lower Manhattan which once was a neighborhood of
factories housed in impressive cast-iron buildings which have turned into
fashionable galleries and charming restaurants, coffeehouses and workrooms
that have become home to some of the most creative people. In both neighborhoods,
you will have a chance to visit the unusual galleries, shops and charming
restaurants. Weather permitting, your visit will include a
walking tour of Greenwich
Village's meandering streets.

Welcome aboard your motorcoach

United
Nations Tour & Luncheon
Your guide and private motorcoach
will take you to the East River where the bright flags of the member nations
add a colorful note to greet you. The United Nations Headquarters is the
physical embodiment of the ideals and aspirations of the United Nations
Charter. Your tour of the buildings and beautiful conference rooms includes
information on the aims, organizations, and activities of the United Nations,
as well as an explanation of the art and architecture. There will be time
to visit the tax-free International Bazaar, the bookstore and the UN Post
Office. Lunch will be served in the elegant, "Members Only" Delegates Dining
Room. This unique room has floor to ceiling windows overlooking the East
River with lovely views of Manhattan's bridges and the borough of Queens.
The buffet menu will offer an assortment of continental and international
dishes from which to select. The menu changes daily and the food is displayed
elegantly. For security reasons, you must pre-register and all guests must
have a form of ID (preferably photo). The dress code excludes sneakers
and necessitates that gentlemen wear jackets.

2001:
HARLEM…&THE NEW RENAISSANCE
Today you will explore Harlem's historical,
cultural, and musical backgrounds. Your morning will begin with a
drive uptown -- past Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts -- up
Riverside Drive, the only planned Avenue in New York, past Grant's
Tomb, Riverside Church. You will learn the history of Harlem
discovering its neighborhood, its beautiful mansions and townhouses
including Sugar Hill, Hamilton Terrace and Striver's Row where many
noted celebrities still reside. You will also visit the Morris-Jumel
Mansion, which was George Washington's headquarters during the
battle with the English at Harlem Heights.
You will tour
down Harlem's most active Street, "125th Street", pass the
new offices of former President Clinton, the legendary "Apollo
Theatre" and then a stop at the Studio Museum of Harlem, the
current exhibition features 25 new African-American Modern Artists.
We will have the privilege to attend a special presentation by the
director of the Abyssinian Baptist Church Development Corporation
who will address the group and discuss Harlem's second Renaissance.
After this special presentation, you will have lunch at one
of the best Soul Food restaurants in New York, Londel's. Here you
will savor a three-course soul-food luncheon of traditional Southern
cuisine. After lunch, you will visit "The Brownstone", an
original building from the 19th century, renovated and turned into
an arts and crafts center. We will continue touring on our way back
to the hotel.

The Guggenheim Museum, a
Frank Lloyd Wright masterpiece, houses an internationally acclaimed collection.
The collection includes important pieces from several movements, including
Impressionism, Cubism, Surrealism, Abstract Expressionism and Minimalism.
Wright uniquely designed the museum with a spiral effect to create a constant
floor space from bottom to top with no stops. Changing exhibits spotlight
the work of other internationally acclaimed artists. You will enter a private
room where a continental breakfast will be served and a museum docent will
discuss the current exhibit which will be, "Brazil...Body and Soul." This
exhibit promises to be very exciting as the art is very dramatic, colorful
and spiritual. After this informative program, you will then have an opportunity
